Adobe Aquires Macromedia

Wow! This changes everything! OK – that’s a bit of hyperbole but this is a very interesting announcement. The impact to design, the internet and media production will be huge. Flash, Director & Dreamweaver under the same roof as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign will make a lot of us very happy. Especially if Adobe gives us upgrades from GoLive to Dreamweaver and LiveMotion to Flash. We shall see. Hmmmm!

UPDATE: An interesting side note with my last post about FCPP5 is that Final Cut Pro was originally developed at Macromedia with part of the former Adobe Premiere team. Macromedia sold the product to Apple. See this 1999 news report. (At one point, Media 100 was working with Macromedia to make FCP available with M100 hardware – a lot of missed  opportunities in FCP’s short history.)

UPDATE 2: A great re-writing of Adobe’s press release. Via Micro Persuasion.
