Toronto’s New Flower?

I love my home city and can’t wait to be living there again in six long weeks. However I’m not knocked out by the local vegetation.

Mayor David Miller and his tree hugging brigade have banned herbicides from use in the city – using junk science to support their decision. Now Toronto lawns and boulevards are covered first with yellow and then with the aged grey heads of the dandelion gone to seed – and then with yellow again – in a cycle only broken by the change of seasons to fall and winter.

The hearty dandelion and other wonderful weeds are replacing the city’s once beautiful lawns – creating eyesores for our many summer visitors – a number that will surely diminish as the dandelions increase.
