Dove Gets Viral w/Felicity Huffman

Leaveittodove1This ain’t no Transamerican performance, but Felicity does play a rather desperate housewife whose supposedly calming showers help her descend into sleep that is haunted by the Brady Bunch, the Cleavers and the Munsters. (I’m not getting the connection. If you use Dove’s Calming Night shower stuff – you end up dreaming your in 1960′s and ’70′s TV shows. That sounds restful.)

Directed by Penny Marshall, these "webisodes" are worth the time to watch – for the fun of the effects alone. I particularly like Felicity showing the Beav a Blackberry. Hopefully Beaver won’t grow up to be a patent troll.

(And yes, I realize that I’m only adding to the viral nature of these spots by writing about them.)

  1. Hmmm.

I don’t know Bill, I don’t think I’m as impressed as you. They’re cute, but they seem to drag at moments, aren’t as cleverly written as I’d hoped, and the plugs for using the product are awkward.

    Just my take.

  2. DUST!N,
Sorry you wasted your time. Probably appeals to old folk like me as these shows are from my childhood (although I missed half of the sixties on Air Force bases in Europe where my father wasn’t interested in getting a French TV). I should have said “might be worth watching”.

As far as being effective marketing tools – only time will tell – but I don’t have high hopes for Dove on this one.

  3. Well, I wouldn’t say I wasted my time. I would just say I expected more. I did watch re-runs of Brady Bunch and The Munsters growing up, but references to The Cosby Show and Growing Pains would have resonated more with me. But I’m not their target… are you? Did you have a sudden urge to start taking evening showers? :)

Don’t worry. Though these weren’t the winners I expected, you haven’t lost esteem in my eyes Bill.

  4. I Liked The Dove Webisodes Produced By Penny Marshall, With Felicity Huffman.
My Favorite one was The Munsters

  5. I’m with Dustin- I thought, wow, this is a really cool idea, but after viewing the webisodes I’m having a hard time believing they would have used such un-entertaining, pointless scripts. They were so bad it was embarassing.

What do you think?
