Sitting @ a Hotspot in Nairobi

I’m sitting at an outside table at Java House in Nairobi. It might not be quite as fast as HotSpots @ home in Toronto – but what a difference from three years ago, when the fastest speed I could get (and that rarely) was 24.4K. The march of Internet access across the planet is a thing to behold.

One of the biggest problems with this hotspot is that it’s too popular. Too many laptops competing for bandwidth – but it’s free – as long as you buy a great cup of coffee. The next time I’ll bring my headset and see how well the hotspot bandwidth handles Skype.
