And While We are Talking about The Developing World – RED

Redipod01Bkgrnd20061012-1 Check out Jamie Arpin-Ricci’s post on RED, the Bono and Bobby Shriver led initiative to use the rampant consumerism of our Western World to fund the fight against HIV/AIDS.

UPDATE: Rylan comments that it’s a rather cynical but effective use of the disease of consumerism. I don’t disagree with my son, but with all of us (the Kinnons were in Kenya together in 2002) having witnessed the ravages of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, I’ll support almost anyway to get more funds to this part of our world.

  1. Thanks for the shout out. I agree that it may be flawed, but all kinds of measures are needed. Thanks again!

  2. Jamie,

    I agree, it may be flawed – but better flawed than nothing at all. And I like your cautious optimism post. I think we can be cautiously optimistic about RED.

    Hear you had some pretty interesting weather in Winnipeg this past week. Nothing to be optimistic about at all.  <;-}
