Saturday in Ottawa

It’s a beautiful, sunny and freezing Saturday afternoon in Canada’s Capital, Ottawa. Four point five (4.5) Kinnons are up visiting the eldest Kinnon child, Liam who is at school at Augustine College. The .5 is our puppy, Dani who I will tell you more about next week. She’s a spoodle. (You can look it up.)

Temps here have hit -20ºC/-4ºF. Not my idea of a good time. But certain members of the Kinnon family are insisting that they go skating on the Rideau Canal. We shall see. (I can guarantee I won’t be joining them.)

We had a killer Brunch @ Nate’s – an Ottawa institution that reminds me of Schwartz’s on the Main in Montreal. My smoked meat western omelette was delicious. And the bite I had of Imbi’s latke was also very good. We will return to Nate’s when we return to this city – hopefully it will be a lot warmer then.

We are taking Liam and a gang of students from Augustine out for dinner tonight – celebrating Liam’s 20th birthday, which happened earlier this month. I may let you know about that food experience. But now it’s time for a nap.

UPDATE: So much for a nap, nine of us are off to Royal Thai for our meal. I’m hungry. And out of here.

UPDATE 2: The Royal Thai had great service and ok food. The evening was a blast because of the gang we were with – and the desert back at the college was yummy. Now I’m tired, but probably too sugar-wired to sleep.
