Tony Blair and the “Nutter” Label

Apparently Tony Blair was afraid of folk knowing how deep his faith is, whilst Prime Minister. One might wonder why. Until one reads something like this, from Sir Menzies Campbell, the former Liberal Democrat leader,

“The public might have been less willing to give him the triumph of three consecutive general election victories if they’d known the extent to which ethical values would overshadow pragmatism,” Sir Menzies said.

Perhaps that’s why so many USAmericans long for more of the Clintons…who would never let ethical values overshadow pragmatism, would they. (Confession: I find Obama a much more attractive candidate than Hils though his values may cost him the leadership race.)
