The Spears Pile-On

A good friend of mine, and one of the more gifted youth workers I know, wrote me this morning about his perception (justified I believe) that the Christian blogosphere is piling on Jamie-Lynn Spears. He comments,

Wonder where the evangelicals are in speaking out on their pro-choice position. This teenager made a grave mistake and seems to be taking the heat on her own… having made the choice to keep this baby alive. So far no one wants to touch this one – like she has the plague.

Most parents/teens would arrange to get rid of the problem and the world would never know.

I think he makes an important point.

Though I must add that I do also question what a self-professing Christian publisher, Thomas Nelson, was doing publishing a now delayed parenting book from Lynn Spears – Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World. Her primary claim to parenting fame is as the mother of Britney – a young woman in dire need of sustained prayer. [via]

  1. Alan, you ask why Thomas Nelson would publish such a book? It’s called C…A…S…H.

  2. I guess I should have checked your blog before I posted mine…

Got the same email…you are just faster!

  3. Err … who’s Alan?

  4. I think the real question is who is this Bill guy? Only God knows, eh!

  5. I dunno … could this be he? 😉

  6. Bill,

My sincere apologies. It’s called a brain fart. They get in the way of thinking.

  7. ‘Tis no problem, Jonathan. Made me laugh. (I could have edited it but that would have ruined the fun.) And some of my favourite people are named Alan. (Well. At least one.)
