And I so appreciate Brother Hutchens pointing that out to me this morning,
…egalitarianism is a heresy and no orthodox Christian can be an egalitarian.
UPDATE: The infamous TommyMertonHead has some fun riffing on Brother Hutchens comment.
there is no longer male or female, jew or greek, slave or free… but there are certainly orthodox and unorthodox…
It seems to me that Hutchen’s definition of egalitarian might be a part of the confusion. There are egalitarians that may embrace the human->woman/man model, but I think there are plenty who take on a different-but-equal model as well, and as equality is the objective, I think both fit under the large umbrella of egalitarianism.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Indigo Montoya, from The Princess Bride
He lost me with the big words in the beginning.
I think he said that anything that disagrees with his Reformed Scholasticism interpretation of scripture is heretical. If so, then it is only heretical within Reformed Scholasticism, but not biblically heretical unless he thinks that his theology and scripture say the same thing. Very clever. He should be a lawyer.
