I Grieve

My friend Michael, the Internet Monk has left this mortal coil. Words fail me.

I will write more of Michael's profound impact on me in the coming days. For now, my thoughts and prayers are with Denise and their children.

A LITTLE LATER: Let me add that today is a day to read the various responses and celebrations of Michael's life – and to weep from time to time. I will miss Michael more than I could imagine.

Jared Wilson and Jason Coker both speak for me. And this Peter Gabriel song helps me process my grief.

  1. This Virtual Abbess wearing purple and praying for iMonk’s precious wife and children and other loved ones — for we know that Michael has graduated on to Aslan’s Land, eh?

I’m thinking about two prayers about the death of beloved saints: one from Harry Emerson Fosdick (that I read, er, cried through, at my Grandmother’s memorial) and the other from a precious little book called “The Way of the Wolf” … the mystery has enveloped him, and us with him.

Nicely timed — following Resurrection Sunday….

May you be surrounded by Papa, Jesus and Sarayu as you grieve, Bill.

  2. Been thinking of you this week as you grieve, process, cry, yell…work through the cycle of emotions that comes with the passing of a loved one. Know that people are praying for you.

  3. Hey bill,
the pain that we feel in the absence is the cost of the love that was shared.- it’s always a cost worth risking…….. Nothing can really comfort in grief…. nothing but shared experience can even remotlely come close………
Just know i’m praying for ya……. for HIM to come close……. and remind…. the He know’s grief too…..
love, and deep shalom my friend.
